We've confirmed that Child Protective Services has now assigned two of its investigators to look into the tragic death of a 19 month old Corpus Christi boy.
The circumstances surrounding young Michael Aden's death remain a mystery. He was rushed to Driscoll Children's hospital from a Flour Bluff duplex. The young boy lived there with his mother and three other people. He was in the care of a baby sitter at the time. Some of the family continues their car wash fundraising efforts this week. They've said they don't believe little Michael's death was an accident. They claim he was suffocated by a baby sitter who also lived in the apartment. At the duplex we spoke to the baby sitter's boyfriend, Timothy Henderson.
"She loved that kid. I don't care what anyone says she loved that kid," said Henderson. He told us his girlfriend tried to kill herself following the death of the young boy, and is in ICU. He says she didn't have anything to do with his death. Henderson denied allegations that his duplex was a so called meth house, or that the child was unsafe while staying there.
Yet Michael's family says they have their doubts. The Nueces County Medical Examiner hasn't made an official ruling on how Michael died. Results on that are pending toxicology. Corpus Christi Police say they're investigating the death as a suspicious one, and CPS has assigned A child abuse investigator and a special investigator to the case.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2008 at Seaside Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
